New spaces and famous faces
at The Dorchester

At The Dorchester, renovations continue apace with the opening of the ground floor, following a complete transformation with the launch of its new Artists’ Bar, The Promenade, Vesper Bar and the Lobby.

Providing the perfect venue, the socially vibrant hotel hosted London’s movers and shakers at the ES x Perfect magazine party, held to kick off London Fashion Week and to celebrate the launch of the new spaces.

The Promenade captures the imagination of guests as soon as they walk through the hotel doors. Adorning the walls is a carefully curated collection of British contemporary art inspired by nature and the British countryside, which enhances and complements the design of the space, with its palest of blue ceilings and delicate whites.

The Artists’ Bar is a new destination for Londoners and a glamorous setting for evenings of champagne, seafood and entertainment. Here, too, guests can enjoy a collection of British art, this time celebrating London. Signature cocktails mirror the references and inspiration of the artworks and the interior, designed as part of the hotel renovation by Pierre-Yves Rochon, features a dramatic mirrored ceiling with a grand chandelier and powder-blue seating.

A glamorous look and a talented team of bartenders are the perfect combination for an exceptional evening at Vesper Bar. A masterclass in strikingly beautiful, contemporary design from London’s interiors specialist, Martin Brudnizki, Vesper Bar is inspired by the spirit and sophistication of the 1930s, and modern glamour most definitely takes centre stage.

Surrealist dinner at Le Meurice

On 9 March, Le Meurice and designer Charles Kaisin teamed up to present an exclusive ‘Surrealist Dinner’ for 70 guests in one of the hotel’s magnificent banqueting rooms.

Kaisin, a graduate of the Royal College of Art in London, launched the Surrealist Dinner concept in 2012. It combines high gastronomy and extravaganza, taking diners to another world.

Le Meurice was the perfect place to host the event in 2023, having welcomed Salvador Dalí as a guest for 30 years. Kaisin’s theme for the dinner was ‘Metamorphosis’, and guests were treated to immersive entertainments between each course. The menu was a culinary experience crafted by Alain Ducasse’s team and celebrated pastry chef Cédric Grolet. The dishes, which were revealed on the night as a surprise to guests, were paired with the most delicate vintages of Dom Pérignon champagne.

Winter wonderland at
Hôtel Plaza Athénée

During the recent festive season Hôtel Plaza Athénée brought to life its very own winter chalet, complete with skating rink, in the heart of La Cour Jardin.

From 24 November 2022 to 19 February 2023, Le Chalet du Plaza Athénée transported guests from Paris to the snowy Alpine slopes with a three-course menu created by executive chef Jean Imbert, featuring three options of fondue – traditional, cèpe or black truffle. During the aperitif, a glass of maison Veuve Clicquot champagne was served outside to encourage guests to make the most of the magical setting.

Guests enjoyed skating in the courtyard of the hotel, opposite the chalet and under the watchful eye of a professional instructor. To ward off the winter chill, skiwear apparel brand Fusalp also provided guests with warm clothing. To end the night on a high note, the hotel’s pastry chefs Angelo Musa and Elisabeth Hot created their own interpretation of the famous cream-and-chestnut-laced Mont Blanc dessert.

More than 1,000 guests sat down to enjoy this exceptional dinner within the enchanting atmosphere of La Cour Jardin, and many well-known companies took the opportunity to privatise space throughout the season.
